Based on an evaluation of the damage to Grandeur of the Seas, by a team of technical experts and regulatory authorities, Royal Caribbean International currently expects the ship to be repaired and able to depart Costa Maya, Mexico, Saturday evening, April 23. The ship is currently expected to arrive in New Orleans at midday Monday, April 25. Repair work is already 25 percent completed and the ship will undergo a full safety inspection and approval prior to departing Costa Maya.

Guests onboard the ship who need to return to New Orleans before Monday will be flown back on charter flights. Guests who have more vacation time are welcome to remain onboard and return to New Orleans with the ship. Current guests also will receive a $250 per-stateroom onboard credit.

Grandeur of the Seas’ seven-night sailing scheduled to depart New Orleans on Saturday, April 23, will delay its departure until 6 p.m. Monday, April 25. Guests should arrive for boarding after 3 p.m. that day. Guests booked on this sailing will be contacted regarding the change to their revised five-night itinerary, which will include port calls in Key West, Florida, and Cozumel, Mexico. Guests who sail on this cruise will receive a $300 per-stateroom onboard credit. Guests who choose to cancel their cruise will receive a full refund.

Grandeur of the Seas struck the pier in Costa Maya, Mexico, at approximately 1 p.m. (E.S.T.) Wednesday, while the ship was docking in 15-knot winds and a 3-knot current, which contributed to the incident. All guests and crew members are completely safe, and none were injured in the incident. The ship has a football-shaped puncture in the bow, on its starboard side, that is approximately 42 feet long and five feet wide at its widest point. The puncture is in the first deck, approximately five feet above the waterline.

The ship is safely docked and otherwise fully operational with all amenities. Royal Caribbean immediately notified the U.S. Coast Guard and other authorities regarding the incident and is fully assisting in their investigations.

Grandeur of the Seas departed New Orleans Saturday on a seven-night sailing, carrying 2,030 guests and 740 crew members. The ship visited Cozumel, Mexico, Monday; Georgetown, Cayman Islands, Tuesday; and Costa Maya, Wednesday. The ship was scheduled to be at sea Thursday and Friday, before returning to New Orleans on Saturday.

En janvier dernier, nous étions sur le Millennium de Celebrity Cruises. À son arrivée au quai de Costa Maya, le navire avait pris beaucoup, beaucoup de temps pour accoster, les vagues étaient vraiment fortes.

Nous avons filmé l'accostage et même pris plusieurs photos.

Le Grandeur of the Seas de Royal Caribbean a frappé la jetée à Costa Maya, Mexique, mercredi dernier vers les 13h00, alors que le navire accostait avec des vents de 15 nœuds (28 km) et un courant de 3 nœuds, le tout contribuant à l’incident.

Tous les passagers et les membres d’équipage sont sains et saufs et aucun n’a été blessé. Le navire a été « éventré » sur son côté droit, approximativement 42 pieds de long et de cinq pieds de large à son point plus large. Le trou béant a été fait à la hauteur du premier pont, approximativement cinq pieds au-dessus de la ligne de flottaison.

Le navire est amarré en toute sécurité et totalement opérationnel. Royal Caribbean a immédiatement informé la garde côtière des ETATS-UNIS et d'autres autorités concernant l'incident et assiste ces derniers pour leurs investigations.

Une équipe d'experts incluant des autorités sont arrivées à Costa Maya. Une évaluation complète des réparations est prévue vers 18h00 (21 avril 2005). Basé sur toute l'information maintenant disponible, Royal Caribbean fait actuellement des plans d'urgence pour aider les passagers pour retourner à la Nouvelle-Orléans soit samedi ou dimanche (23 ou 24 avril) et ainsi que des arrangements pour vol de retour, si le bateau ne peut retourner à la Nouvelle-Orléans ce week-end. Advenant le cas, les passagers qui auront du temps additionnel de vacances pourront continuer leur séjour à bord pour retourner avec le navire.

Le Grandeur of the Seas qui est programmé pour un itinéraire de sept jours débutant samedi le 23 avril, sera retardé. Les passagers qui avaient réservé pour cette croisière seront contactés dès maintenant. Les détails concernant la date et l’heure de départ seront disponible en soirée.

Bonjour,

Lorsque nous étions à Grand Cayman il y a 2 semaines, j'ai vu le Grandeur of the Seas et j'ai rapporté une photo des réparations suite a la collision avec le quai à Costa Maya.

Ouf! Est-ce que je rêve, ce sont des "patchs" temporaires...

Il va falloir que le Grandeur of the Seas aille en cale sèche...
